The Basics

  • If you are an existing client of the clinic, you will already be a member. For new clients, you will need to book an initial consultation. Your initial consultation fee will cover your first year of Membership with the clinic, however a $149 Annual Membership fee will be payable a year after your initial consultation, if you still require services from the clinic.

Please be aware that the membership will be first come first served basis and we may not be able to assist you due to capacity issues.

  • No, your Annual Membership fee does not cover your appointments or script fees. The annual fee is designed to manage the capacity of the clinic as well as cover the administrative costs of running a business like ours. Hourly rates are noted in our “What is your Pricing?” question below. Please note specialty tests, medications and supplements are not included in your annual membership fee, nor are Ozone or Intravenous Vitamin C treatments, which are charged on a time and materials basis.

  • An initial consult with Dr. Barnes is $450. Outside of initial consults, Dr. Barnes is $420 per hour (GST inclusive).

Time is charged to the nearest 10 minutes with appointment fees due immediately on completion of your appointment. Hourly rates are subject to change without notice.

  • At the end of your first year with us, you can evaluate your progress and see how far you have come. You can make a decision at this stage as to whether you will continue as a Member of the clinic and pay your $149 Annual Membership fee, or decide you no longer require our services.

Choosing Membership

  • Optimizing your health is a journey of time and discovery. Our clinic is here to lead you through it. An Annual Membership provides the unique flexibility to adjust to your health needs as they arise.

In order to effectively recover your health, a series of visits will be needed. An Annual Membership is designed to cover some of the high administrative costs of our business, create sustainability and access and also promote commitment to overcoming chronic health issues.

Your first visit is intended to acquaint us with your medical history and orient you to our process.

Our staff will recommend an appropriate diet; recommend appropriate testing and inform you or available treatment options; however, please note this visit is not intended to diagnose or treat.

In subsequent sessions, we will review labs / specialty tests; assess your response to previous interventions and add / subtract supplements as needed. Functional Medicine involves a lot of detective work, and your response to various interventions will help us guide you to the next step. We may also recommend specialty tests, such as microbiome analysis; heavy metal testing or organic acids testing to help us identify the causal factors of the symptoms you are seeking relief from.

  • An Annual Membership is for anyone who is ready to commit to their health - whether they are looking for maintenance or just starting on their health journey. Anyone who wants to come into the clinic to see our Practitioners or obtain scripts will need an Annual Membership.

  • If you require medication management or ongoing supervision of a health concern and wish to receive ongoing treatment with our practitioners, you will need to be a member to do so.

As mentioned above, certain services will be available a la carte on a time and materials basis, such as naturopathic consultations; prolozone / IVC therapies etc.

Once the membership has reached capacity, we will not be able to accept any further patients, member or not. This is in order to keep the quality of care as high and personal as possible.

  • We understand and respect the fact that an Annual Membership Fee is not for everyone and respect each individual’s decision to choose whether or not they wish to remain at our practice.

  • With functional medicine, we have a large toolkit from which to choose from.

Of course, we always start with diet and lifestyle optimization. Once you have that part sorted, we often start with a “gut health” approach, by optimizing the gut-immune axis.

Our clinic uses high quality, clinician only supplements and also uses pharmaceutical medications, where appropriate. There are numerous other other therapeutic interventions available, which will be elaborated in your appointment.

  • Yes, we do treat hormonal conditions such as menopause/ andropause; PCOS and perimenopause. We are trained in bio-identical hormonal replacement therapy and other hormonal balancing techniques.
